Kodomo School began in 1972 as a small cram school in Toyohashi called 森田塾 (Morita Juku). We opened our soroban classes in Toyohashi in 2010, and our head office is also here, in 八町通 (Hatchodori). Today we hold classes at community centers and community halls across the city, including 駒形 (Komagata), 牛川通 (Ushikawadori), 牧野 (Makino), 大岩南 (Oiwa-minami), 三ノ輪 (Minowa) and 大橋通 (Ohashidori), and children come from near 牛川小学校 (Ushikawa Elementary), つつじが丘小学校 (Tsutsujigaoka Elementary), 二川小学校 (Futagawa Elementary), 磯部小学校 (Isobe Elementary), 野依小学校 (Noyori Elementary) and other schools. Open to children from the final year of kindergarten through junior high, 60 minutes once a week. The trial lesson is free (about 20 minutes), and all your child needs to bring is something to write with.

Common questions in Toyohashi

About our soroban classes in Toyohashi

Where in Toyohashi are the classrooms?

They are spread across the city: the city center with 牛川通 (Ushikawadori), 大橋通 (Ohashidori) and 三ノ輪 (Minowa); the east with 二川 (Futagawa) and 大岩南 (Oiwa-minami); the south with 牧野 (Makino) and サンヒル若松 (Sunhill Wakamatsu); the southwest with 駒形 (Komagata); and more. Use the list above to search by elementary school or town name.

Can my child learn both soroban and calligraphy?

Yes. The 牛川通 (Ushikawadori), 牧野 (Makino), 大橋通 (Ohashidori), 三ノ輪 (Minowa), サンヒル若松 (Sunhill Wakamatsu) and 大岩南 (Oiwa-minami) classrooms hold both classes at the same venue on different days. The free trial lesson can cover both at once.

Where is the head office?

豊橋市八町通二丁目17 (2-17 Hatchodori, Toyohashi). Phone: 0120-39-3836 (weekdays 10:00–18:00). The head office handles inquiries about all of our classrooms.

Soroban at Kodomo School

Not just a calculation lesson: training in “how to use your head.”

Move the fingers, picture the numbers, keep going to the end. Repeating this builds not only calculation skills but also concentration and the confidence that “if I try, I can do it.” The teacher watches each child’s progress, sets tasks that fit that child, and marks the work on the spot. Grade exams can also be taken at your usual classroom.
