Parents’ voices

From families who attend

Here are real words from parents (shared just as they wrote them).

Translated from Japanese.

SorobanSoroban class

The teacher treats my child in such a kind, warm way. My child is shy, but is enjoying it. Thank you.

Grade 1 · Toyohashi area

My child always goes happily. They tell me with a big smile about what they were praised for and what they’ve gotten better at. Thank you!

Grade 1 · Toyohashi area

I’m grateful that the teacher suggested an approach that suits my child. My son couldn’t stay focused for a full hour and was negative, saying “I can’t do it.” The teacher noticed that his focus ran out after about 40–45 minutes, suggested a different practice time, and praised him whenever he did well. Lately he no longer minds going to soroban. Thank you.

Grade 2 · Toyohashi area

Teacher ○○, thank you as always. Every day I can see my child becoming more interested in numbers and enjoying them. We look forward to your continued guidance.

Grade 2 · Okazaki area

My child enjoys it so much that they start on their homework as soon as they get home from soroban class. Thank you, and we look forward to your continued guidance.

Grade 1 · Okazaki area

I’m grateful that you always teach so patiently. My child enjoys going to class, and that makes me happy, too.

CalligraphyCalligraphy class

Teacher ○○, thank you for your guidance. My child reached the goal of “earning a dan rank by 6th grade!” a year early and is very happy about it. We look forward to your continued guidance for the remaining year.

Grade 5 · Okazaki area

You always teach so kindly and carefully. Seeing my child go to class so happily, I’m really glad we signed up.

Grade 1 · Okazaki area

Thank you for always teaching so carefully. My child is learning to write letters neatly at an even size, and I can see the results. The classroom is now farther away, so getting there is hard, but my child seems to want to keep at it. We look forward to your continued guidance.

Grade 2 · Toyohashi area

You’re always so kind to her, and my daughter enjoys coming to class. She can now read numbers and hiragana, which I was struggling to teach her on my own, so I’m very grateful, too.

Grade 2 · Hamamatsu area

The kanji my child writes for homework practice are getting neater. Thank you, as always.

ArtArt class

Has your child changed in any way?
She says, “I can’t wait for Wednesday every week!” and goes to class looking truly happy. In art class she has discovered the joy of expressing herself, and I can clearly see my daughter’s self-esteem growing.
What has stayed with you?
Every time I pick her up, her eyes sparkle as she tells me how she made her work: “Today I made it like this!” Her smile tells me just how full and rich her time in class is.
When did you feel “I’m glad we chose this class”?
Number one is the teachers’ personalities. They are always kind to her and share the little details of how she did in class that day, which I truly appreciate as a parent. I feel they care not only about the children but about us parents’ feelings, too.
Actually, there is another art class within walking distance of our home, but my daughter insists on going to this one because she “loves the teachers, the warm atmosphere of the class, and the friends she makes art with.” It’s a warm place we hope to stay with for a long time.

Has your child changed in any way?
Since starting class, my child naturally spends more time drawing at home, too. They come up with and draw characters of their favorite YouTubers, and take great care with the coloring. It feels like art has taken root in our everyday life.
What has stayed with you?
Actually, a little while ago there was a time when my child didn’t want to go, but the teacher tried all sorts of ideas to match my child’s pace, which really helped. My child especially loved making paper-clay sculptures, and got their motivation fully back: “Next time I want to try it like this!” It made me realize that, deep down, they really do love making things ✨
When did you feel “I’m glad we chose this class”?
In the lower grades, my child often still can’t put their feelings into words well. So I feel that art, a “place to express yourself freely,” has become a “place to grow yourself” as it is. The time at the end, when each child presents their work in front of everyone, is an especially good experience, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how my child grows from here 🎶

Has your child changed in any way?
Before, he would often give up halfway when things didn’t go the way he wanted, but since starting art class he seems to have gained focus. At home, too, whenever he finds an empty box or something, he says, “I’ll make something with this!” and gets so absorbed in crafts and drawing that he loses track of time. He seems to spend less time absorbed in video games.
What has stayed with you?
At the viewing session, a friend told him, “This part is so cool!” He was so happy about it that he’s now all fired up: “Next time I’ll come up with something even more amazing!” I also see him growing when he notices the good points of friends who are different from him, saying things like “〇〇’s artwork had such pretty colors,” and is inspired by them.
When did you feel “I’m glad we chose this class”?
Rather than “making things neatly and well,” the teachers value the child’s inner voice above all — “What do you want to do? How did you feel?” — so I can feel my son’s individuality being drawn out freely.
He was originally very shy, but in class he has changed so much that he now presents his own work proudly and confidently. You are helping his heart grow big, too. Most of all, he looks forward to going to class, and that makes me happy as well.
