Our Hanoi School, Vietnam
A classroom that grows
hearts connected to the world
Kodomo Soroban Center is our Hanoi school, run by Morita Group. We bring soroban (Japanese abacus), a traditional part of Japanese culture, to children in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Kodomo Soroban Center
Through soroban,
skills that work anywhere in the world.
Kodomo Soroban Center, our Hanoi school, supports children as they grow in two countries with different cultures: Japan and Vietnam.
At our Hanoi school, we use soroban (Japanese abacus), a traditional part of Japanese culture, to build children’s self-esteem (a sense of “I can do it”) and help them develop skills that will serve them anywhere in the world.

Japan and Vietnam:
two cultures coming together
Besides soroban, we also teach traditional Japanese greetings and manners. At the start and end of every lesson, the children greet each other in a loud, clear voice and bow to one another. These are chances for them to experience Japanese culture.
Through these activities, the children come to understand Japanese culture and deepen their understanding of other cultures.
For the children’s future
We hope the children will grow into people who can thrive anywhere in the world.
A Soroban class is not just a place to build calculation skills.
We want it to be a place where children grow in both body and mind.
Classes
Soroban at kindergartens
and elementary schools, too
Besides classes at our Hanoi school, we also run soroban classes at private kindergartens and private elementary schools in Hanoi.

Learning through play, with all five senses
Moving the soroban beads and counting numbers out loud: each of these actions stimulates a young child’s brain. Learning with all five senses activates the right brain, and focus, memory, and thinking skills develop naturally.
Feeling “this is fun!” matters most
For young children, the most important thing is the feeling that learning is fun. By playing with the soroban, they naturally pick up the idea of numbers.
Skills your child will gain
Concentrating on the soroban shuts out the noise around them and builds the ability to focus on one thing.
Remembering numbers and how to calculate greatly improves memory.
Linking the movement of the beads with numbers develops logical thinking.
Solving problems and finding the answers on their own builds confidence and a positive, can-do attitude.

Bringing out your child’s full potential
- Stronger calculation skills!Soroban is the best tool for building calculation skills. Mental math (anzan) also improves greatly, and children become able to handle complex calculations with ease.
- Even more amazing skills!Learning soroban is about more than calculation. It also builds focus, memory, logical thinking, problem-solving, and much more.
- Learning to work toward a goalWorking hard toward passing the grade exams (kyu) teaches patience and brings a real sense of achievement.
- Shaping the future with confidenceWhat children experience through soroban builds their confidence and gives them the drive to take on any challenge in the future.
Our wish
We truly hope the children will live happy lives, and that everyone involved with them will be happy too.
Kodomo School’s Soroban classes are places that open up children’s possibilities.

Our friends in Vietnam
are working hard at soroban too!
